It is our sincere desire that NLA be a good steward to the Shinanomachi community and environment, and we want everyone to follow the garbage regulations. We need volunteers to prepare the garbage collection sites and monitor during the disposal times.
2019 is our first time to try the Shinanomachi new system for burnable garbage. We will need to be more careful about what is burnable and what is non-burnable garbage and whether the garbage has been put in the right bag.
We would like every NLA member and renter to be a good model for garbage issues. It has been suggested that every member and renter be required to serve at least once as a volunteer garbage monitor in the season so that we will learn how to divide our garbage properly and be responsible residents of our NLA community. We are asking all members and renters to apply to be a volunteer when they register at the Business Office.
Volunteers are needed for the following categories and times.
- Garbage site monitoring volunteers for Burnable Garbage: Every Monday and Friday in season, 7:00~8:00 am
- Monitoring volunteers for non-burnable and recycle garbage: Every Wednesday in season, 8:00~9:30 am
- Garbage helpers:
- For persons who are unable to carry their garbage bag to one of the 3 sites by themselves, or who cannot take their garbage between 7:00 and 8:00 am on the collection day, arrangements need to be made. If you are willing to be a helper, please contact the Business Office so that garbage coordinator team can arrange help for persons in need.
